The festival is a landmark celebration of the wine, food and culture of Michigan’s wine coast, featuring wines from the wineries of the Leelanau Peninsula, Old Mission Peninsula, Traverse City & Benzie along with a selection of Traverse City and Leelanau restaurants serving food & desserts. The 2012 festival is our fourth annual and will once again showcase innovative music & performance and original artwork from dozens of regional artists.
The Traverse City Wine & Art Festival is very excited to announce the headliner for the 2012 festival, national recording artist Rusted Root.
Rusted Root features founder and band leader Michael Glabicki (lead vocals, guitar), Liz Berlin (vocals, percussion) and Patrick Norman (vocals, bass, percussion). Glabicki says “We are a band made up of individual musicians who come together collectively to create music, call it what you want but we are simply creating music that has a message.”
Rusted Root has sold more than 3 million albums worldwide, and Traverse City’s own Rick Coates observes that the message has been resonating with fans for nearly 20 years. The 2012 Spring Sip & Savor takes place May 5 & 6, 2012 – tickets are on sale now!
Join us the weekend of May 5-6, 2012 for the Leelanau Peninsula Vintners Association’s annual Spring Sip & Savor wine trail event. As our vineyards wake to the sun & warmth of May, we invite you to enjoy special wine and food pairings at each of the wineries on the wine trail and help support Migrant Education in Leelanau County.
For added fun, event participants are encouraged to participate in our Sip o’ de Mayo Hat Contest try to win one of the prizes that many of the wineries will be offering and the fabulous Grand Prize of two nights lodging at The Homestead, dinner for two with appetizers and dessert at La Becasse, Sunday brunch for two at the Bluebird, a wood-fired pizza from the Hearth & Vine Cafe at Black Star Farms and a pair of tickets to any LPVA Weekend tour or the Traverse City Wine & Art Festival!
As an added feature, $5 from every ticket will benefit Migrant Education in Leelanau County! Tickets are limited and our events usually sell out, so be sure to order early!

Spring Sip & Savor has been designed to provide seasoned wine trail guests or first time visitors with a truly memorable experience that will allow them to celebrate spring, indulge their senses and learn more about Leelanau Peninsula wines. Most importantly it is an event that delivers fun!
Visit up to 8 wineries on Saturday from 11 to 6pm, and up to 8 on Sunday from noon to 5pm.
Tickets are just $35 and include wine and food pairings at each winery, a commemorative glass and a $5 gift certificate, that can be used at any LPVA winery.

SPRING FLING - Saturday, March 24, 2012
The lifts won’t be running next Saturday, March 24, but we will still celebrate Spring! We are planning to use the snow we have left to hold as many of our 14th Annual Spring Fling events as possible. Stay tuned for a schedule of activities for next Saturday.
UPDATE - 3/23 - Spring Fling Update: We started piling up the remaining snow from all of our slopes on Cheers today in an effort to build a run for our Cardboard Classic and Kayak races, but there just isn’t enough of the white stuff left out there. The rain last night and today, combined with our warm temps, have won out. We are forced to cancel tomorrow’s Cardboard Classic and Kayak races.
But Spring Fling will go on - we are holding a Cardboard Classic Show and Kayak Battleship Game! Bring out your cardboard creations for a classic car style show at 11am. Then at 2pm we’ll let the bombs fly in a life-size Kayak Battleship Game! And our Beach Party, Pig Roast, and Luau Party will kick off the season in style. We hope you can join us!
