Toast the Season - A Wine & Food Celebration with Holiday Themed Gifts

Toast the SeasonIt has become a Northwest Michigan holiday tradition - the Leelanau Peninsula Vintners Association’s Toast the Season wine tour. Once again, two consecutive weekends of tasting and touring will be offered, November 7 & 8 and also on November 14 & 15. The tour is self guided and you may visit 16 of the member wineries (up to 8 per day) in any order at any time between the hours of 11am to 6pm Saturday, or noon to 5pm Sunday.

“This is a great time for families and friends to gather to celebrate the upcoming season and even get started on their holiday shopping,” says Adam Satchwell of Shady Lane Cellars. “Wines and other items from Leelanau Peninsula tasting rooms are the perfect gift for the holidays. Our wines compliment holiday meals, cocktail parties or any gathering and they make great gifts!”

The annual Toast the Season wine trail tour features a special wine pour, accompanied by holiday themed gourmet food, at each of the 17 Leelanau Peninsula member wineries. At your starting winery you will be given a commemorative glass, a unique holiday ornament and a holiday gift basket from the members of Sleeping Bear Gourmet (a group of local, fair trade and organic food producers).

“We’re excited to participate in Toast the Season. It’s the perfect opportunity to celebrate the rich culinary heritage of this region and aligns perfectly with Sleeping Bear Gourmet’s commitment to a local food economy,” said Timothy Fitzgerald Young of Food For Thought. Comprised of small family owned and operated businesses, Sleeping Bear Gourmet members all share common values that represent the highest gourmet standard in each respective category as well as common commitment to sustainable business practices.

Toast the Season Food Drive

This year in conjunction with Toast the Season, LPVA will work with the Father Fred Foundation (fatherfred.org) to collect canned food. Just bring your canned food donation to any of the 17 LPVA wineries and drop it in the collection box to help families in need in the Grand Traverse region this holiday season.

Tickets

Tickets for Toast the Season are $50 per person or $75 per couple (couple ticket holders receive two glasses, pours and food at each winery, but only one gift basket and ornament).

4th Annual
Peak-to-Peak Mountain Bike Race
presented by Right Brain Brewery

Crystal Mountain Resort
Thompsonville, MI
Saturday, October 17, 2009 10:00 am

Right Brain BreweryEndoman Promotions and Crystal Mountain Resort in Thompsonville, Michigan are pleased to present the Fourth Annual Peak-to-Peak Mountain Bike Classic, presented by Right Brain Brewery. This epic event is held in and around the beautiful and gently rolling terrain which surrounds Crystal Mountain and will start and finish right at the resort!

P2P Availability CountdownThere are a couple of great aspects to this race: first is the venue. The trail system, which includes both Crystal Mountain property and state land, provides some of the most fun riding in Michigan. The hardwood and pine forests along with rambling two-tracks and flowing single-track will have you humming as you race. The course is fast and challenging but not so difficult that racers new to the sport won’t have a great ride. Plus, the pre- and post-race festivities at the Mountain are sure to be a hit for everyone in the family.

The P2P also serves as a great “warm-up” race to the world famous Iceman Challenge, this year held three weeks later, on November 8th. And, it will give those riders who weren’t able to get into the Iceman an opportunity to test themselves one last time for the season.

Then there’s the time of year: great temps, beautiful colors – ideal for hearty competition and great family fun. The Clipper chair lift will be running again to view great racing action as the riders scream down the mountainside. And don’t forget the Tour de Tykes kid’s race held immediately following the big event (check with Crystal Mountain for details on the TDT).
